There’s now ample opportunity to stay on top of what the market research community is saying in the Twitter-sphere. In addition to our weekly coverage on the top #MRX tweets of the week on the Innovation Evolved blog, we’ll be doing a top-ten recap every two weeks right here on GreenBook.
Of the 1,633 unique links shared by the #MRX Twitter community last week, here are the top 10 that were retweeted the most:
- 30+ New Buzz words and concepts emerging from ESOMAR 3D conference – For you stimulation junkies, Jon Puleston of GMI has prepared a glossary of 36 words and concepts that emerged from the exoflood of information at ESOMAR’s most recent conference.
- Esomar 3D: Winners and losers – Tom Ewing of BrainJuicer plays Snakes & Ladders (that’s Chutes & Ladders to my fellow Americans) with the ideas from ESOMAR 3D. “Plenty of concepts and techniques were discussed, but which ideas are on the ladder of success and which notions are sliding down the snake of ignominy?”
- The Winners of The Research Transformation award – Jon Puleston, VP of innovation for GMI, ran a contest for the Festival of NewMR in which 30 judges (including Lenny and yours truly) voted on the ideas transforming research, the techniques transforming research and the books that have transformed research, among other categories. Special congratulations to ESOMAR (best research organization), Research magazine (best journal) and ConfirmIt (best software firm).
- Statistics – lost in translation? – Coming in next is a post from one of those award winners, as Robert Bain of Research magazine tackles why the public is often oblivious to or misunderstands the statistics behind key trends.
- Going native – Paul Hudson of Intersperience shares 5 key findings from a study of 8- to 25-year olds in the UK.

- A fifth of UK adults have never sent an email – From the ICM Group come’s the shortest article to ever make our Top 10! Presented here in its entirety (link added): “Research for BT has revealed that a fifth (19 per cent) of adults in the UK have never sent an email before. Among those in social grade DE, that figure more than doubles to 43 per cent and those of retirement age are also less likely to have sent an email (56 per cent have not). The survey was conducted by telephone among 2,103 UK adults between 9th and 18th September 2011.”
- The UK market research industry in review – The Research magazine team profiled the 10 UK firms of the top 100 with the highest growth rates, interviewing leaders from 8 of the companies.
- How Infographics Make Shoddy Research Look Deceptively Legit – Kathryn Korostoff of ResearchRockstar shared this great post from Kathryn Roy of Precision Thinking demonstrating how easy it is legitimize bad data with a flashy graphical treatment.
- High Earners’ Attitudes to Pay – The 1% feel closer to the 99% than the 0.1%, at least in the United Kingdom, according to this research from Ipsos MORI.
