Alec Maki is a software guy that somehow got wrangled into marketing research, innovation, and brand growth. Working with dozens of Fortune 500 companies, seeking to help them do a better job of creating value, he‚Aos become a domain expert on consumer behavior and product innovation. As a result, he‚Aos been doing really cool stuff tied to behavior economics to fuel growth in consumer-oriented categories ranging from sugar cookies to deodorants to digital media/mobile apps. Alec works at Bellomy Research, focused on ""next generation design."" While this is a mouthful, it's all about continuous improvement -- in particular, how we can continuously gain a better appreciation and understanding of the human condition and apply that to help customers make more 1) informed marketing decisions and 2) money. Luckily, he is surrounded by brilliant and passionate people who make this possible. In the past, he led the BehaviorLens business at InsightsNow, for which he was given an individual award (""4 under 40"" emerging leaders award by the American Marketing Association) -- which is more an outcome of team's hard work in turning ideas into reality. In addition, they won the 2012 EXPLOR award for marketing research innovation by partnering with AOL and BBDO on a landscape study of mobile moments. This has helped AOL, BBDO, digital marketers and brands rethink conventional wisdom of mobile phone behaviors. Above and beyond that, he has five kids, a passion for bold innovation and an appetite for creative destruction. He‚Aos also seen first-""hand"" why Shaquille O'Neal couldn't make free-throws despite being one of the most dominant basketball players ever. The guy has bigger fingers than Alec‚Aos thighs. HUGE.
