Snorri Gudmundsson is a business matchmaker. In his capacity as Marketing Director for the Icelandic Development Agency, he aims to bridge the gap between EC funding and US VCs by connecting EU and US ICTs in a way that will increase their intrinsic value. He also serve as EC expert evaluator for proposals aimed at securing Europe's global competitiveness by bringing research closer to the market. These activities lead to close working relationships with domestic and international investment funds and private investors that seek new opportunities. He doubles as CEO of IceStat Market Intelligence, which provided the Icelandic government with vital data on banking activities leading to the economic collapse October 2008, and is currently exploring ways to unfreeze capital trapped in banks. He likes to network and seek to merge solutions to deliver robust and scalable platforms that improve the lives of millions of people. Having worked as CFO for an engineering firm that exported solutions for big industries all over the world, he became sensitized to how multiple economic factors affect organizations. A Master's in Marketing Management from Boston University coupled with financial experience has greatly influenced how he approaches and perceives marketing. In order for a business to grow, it has to synchronize with the outside economic environment. That means mapping the chain from supplier to consumer and the major factors that influence the growth strategy. Having worked with statistical and financial information since 1997, he's fascinated with many new solutions that have been introduced to the market, specifically those that convert text to quantifiable data. He networks regularly with forward thinkers on the market research arena and is always looking for new models to convert data to real business impact.
