The BAQMaR Annual Conference is being held December 8th in Ghent, Belgium. It’s going to be one heck of an event, with a stellar line-up of true leaders in market research presenting on the topics that will be driving the industry forward in the years to come. BAQMaR invited me to conduct interviews with speakers at the conference and here is the first of that series: a chat with Orlando Wood, Managing Director of BrainJuicer® Labs. Continue reading »

BAQMaR President Tom De Ruyck was gracious enough to ask GreenBook and myself to help raise awareness of the event, and since I love contests we decided to do something fun. Here is the scoop:

Create a short (less than 2 minute) video on the future of market research. It can encompass virtually any idea, viewpoint, or concept: it just needs to be creative and short. It can be a presentation, video, CGI, etc…; use whatever technique works best for you.The goal here is to promote new thinking and have fun while doing it. Continue reading »

Objects in Mirror Are Closer Than They Appear

I have read countless articles expressing the viewpoint that the new opportunities presented by New MR (e.g. social media listening, mobile, text analytics, MROCs, Crowdsourcing, neuro-monitoring, etc.) are merely new tools in our toolbox. I don’t agree with that politically correct argument. I think these new tools are the replacements. Which means “the survey” and “some groups” are going the way of the dodo bird. Continue reading »

Not only is engaging with fellow market researchers on twitter fun – it can also be a rewarding and learning experience. While I agree with Reg Baker’s criticism of the online echo chamber to some extent, social media is nonetheless a great setting for ideas to make out on a continuous basis and for fostering crowd accelerated innovation within our industry. However silly it may sound, I can’t begin to tell you all the things I’ve learned about market research through the #mrx community on twitter and LinkedIn over the past couple of years. I’d encourage you to join in, share your knowledge and engage in meaningful conversations for at least a few months before you judge for yourself. Continue reading »
