I recently wrapped up the U.S. Conference season by attending the CASRO Annual Conference and The Market Research Event. Although each event was decidedly different in many ways, there were fundamental similarities in the overall view of where the industry is today and where it is likely headed in the future, as well as some pointers on how to get there.

Innovation and the 2010 Honomichl 50

The full version of the 2011 Honomichl Top 50 Report was released earlier than expected last week. We had previously looked at the Top 10 about 2 weeks ago, but I think it's useful to look at the full list and contrast it with the GRIT 50 Innovative firms to understand the relationship between innovation as a driver of revenue growth.

A Quick Take On The Honomichl Top 50 Market Research Firms for 2010

MRWeb posted an analysis of the Honomichl Report. The story is obviously that revenues are up and growth is occurring; that is good news for us all. Although after 2 down years in a row, I'm not sure how much that is to truly crow about. I have not done the analysis comparing to 2007-2008 numbers yet but I suspect we're only marginally ahead of previous levels or maybe still slightly down overall. Also there is still an employment gap to fill where the industry has shed more jobs than it has produced so far in the recovery.

The first event is the Technology Driven Market Research conference next week in Chicago. This has turned into THE breakout event so far this year. With research transformation being such a hugely debated topic right now, it simply could not be more timely. Many of the firms that are likely to play major roles in setting the course for the market research industry over the next five to ten years are going to be there and judging from the attendee list the industry is paying attention!
